Mr. Pillows, a 13-year-old Chihuahua mix weighing about 14 pounds. Recently, Heidi’s Legacy Dog Rescue saved Mr. Pillows from the Pet Resource Center in Tampa, where he had been found as a stray, suffering from a massive, fist-sized growth hanging from his neck.
Thanks to the quick intervention of our veterinary partners, the growth was removed successfully, and pathology confirmed it was benign. Mr. Pillows is now neutered and on the mend, with his stitches due to come out soon.
However, during his recovery, it became clear that Mr. Pillows has additional challenges: he is vision and hearing impaired and exhibits snappy behavior, likely stemming from discomfort, stress, and difficulty navigating his surroundings. He requires a calm, safe, and structured environment with knowledgeable care to help him feel secure and thrive.
Unfortunately, our rescue is at capacity, and the level of specialized care he needs exceeds what our fosters can comfortably provide. We’re humbly seeking assistance from rescues or sanctuaries like yours that specialize in senior or special needs dogs and can offer him the environment and support he deserves.
We strongly believe that with time, patience, and a proper environment, Mr. Pillows can decompress and enjoy his golden years. He has so much life left to live and deserves a chance to feel safe, loved, and cared for.
