BDRA Teams

ADOPTION: Our adoption team checks adoption applications. They need help calling potential adopters and checking references.

EVENTS: Our events team finds local events, sets up a table to sell BDRA merchandise, and shares about BDRA and our mission. You can attend events to help, or set up a table wherever you’re located!

FOLLOW UP (This team is not in need of help at this time):  Our follow up team calls people who adopted from BDRA to see how things are going. They find out if there are any issues and offer support.

FOSTER:  Our foster team consists of the volunteers who take dogs into their homes and foster them until a forever home is found. We always need foster homes!

FUNDRAISING: Our fundraising team looks for potential ways to raise money for our dogs in foster care, to include searching and applying for grants. Caring for our foster dogs can be very expensive, so we are always looking for fundraising opportunities!

INTAKE: Our intake team is in contact with shelters throughout the US and Canada, gathering information on blind/visually impaired dogs in their facilities that need to come into rescue. This is a very busy team and they always need a hand communicating with shelters.

INTERNET (This team is not in need of help at this time): Our internet team keeps our website updated, as well as many sites where we list our foster dogs, such as Petfinder and Adopt A Pet.

NEWSLETTER: Our newsletter team publishes a monthly online newsletter. They always need people to write articles and come up with new ideas for the newsletter.

NETWORKING:  Our networking team cross-posts blind/visually impaired dogs in shelters to other rescues and on social media. There are a lot of dogs in shelters, so this is a busy team that could always use a hand!

OWNER SURRENDER:  Our owner surrender team is in contact with people who, for whatever reason, need to rehome their blind/visually impaired dog. They gather information on the dog and share with BDRA as well as other rescues.

TRANSPORT: Our transport team coordinates transports for our foster dogs, both from the shelter to foster home and from the foster home to adopters. You can live anywhere to help with this, as they map out the transport and look for people to drive parts of the route. They also monitor the transport to be sure it’s on time.

VOLUNTEER: Our volunteer team checks the applications of people wishing to volunteer for BDRA. They always need help checking references and talking to potential volunteers.
