Willy - Courtesy Post

At 8 weeks old, Willy was brought to the San Antonio shelter after being found by a Good Samaritan, and Heart of Texas Lab Rescue (HOTLR) pulled him soon after. Willy had severe head trauma, wasn't mobile, couldn't see, and it was unclear if he would survive.

Well, survive he did; more than that he's thriving! He is still visually impaired, but odds are you won't be able to tell (and it sure doesn't bother him!).Willy is smart, fearless and incredibly capable. He loves life, people, dogs and food, not necessarily in that order. If he gets adopted into a home with other dogs, he'll do best with dogs who can adjust their play styles (Willy is up for the rough & tumble but he's also still small), and who will correct him when he's too bitey & annoying (he's often bitey & annoying).

Willy is in the final stretch of house training; if the human gets him out regularly he's great and has very few accidents. He sleeps through the night in his crate (in foster mom's room). Willy is an incredible puppy with unlimited potential. Sweet, curious, playful, smart.....all the things. He is however a puppy and raising up a puppy right while maintaining your patience and humor ain't for sissies!

Concerned about his visual impairment? Don't be as his foster mom can teach you everything you need to know and direct you to resources if needed. Honestly, getting him past the puppy phase will be more frustrating than anything having to do with his vision. Give him a chance; you won't regret it.

Willy is currently in foster in Austin, Texas, and must be adopted in Texas.
